Car manufacturer Nissan has issued five trademark applications for its most iconic car models. The company claims it is making plans for NFTs, NFT-backed media, online NFT marketplaces, digital wallets, NFT minting, trading, and storing software.
Metaverse and NFT trademark attorney at the USPTO, Mike Kondoudis, disclosed the trademark registrations. Important highlights of the filling include NFT authentication using downloadable electronic data files, videos, artwork images, tickets, music, and trading cards.
Nissan car models said to be part of the filled application include GTR, SKYLINE, and Z. Downloadable computer software will be launched as well, according to the filling. A digital wallet, an online NFT marketplace for authorizing, accessing, and transferring NFTs, will be included.
Nissan recently had an NFT collaboration with Australian-based video game, Monkey Grease and is taking it a step further.
Grease Monkey and Nissan aim to ensure that the quality of the NFT vehicles and their parts are in ”true to life form.”
Other car manufacturers that have launched NFTs include Lamborghini, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, Lykan, and Ferrari.
The growing number of traditional and web3 firms and individuals pitching their tents with NFTs show how much attention the technology is getting and the potentials it holds in redefining businesses, operations, economies and social interactions.
