FIFA is set to release an NFT collection featuring historical moments in the sports tournament’s history. It will be in the form of a “collection of classic” football clips. According to the report, the NFT will be released before the Qatar FIFA World Cup.
The launch will allow football fans globally to own, share, and trade their most precious football moments. It will feature clips of the “greatest goals, saves, celebrations, and more” from both the FIFA men’s and women’s world cup previous games.
All the clips will be hosted on the Algorand blockchain. Earlier in May, Algorand and the world football governing body struck a partnership deal making the blockchain firm the official blockchain platform of FIFA. As part of the agreement, Algorand will provide a “wallet solution”.

Fandom is changing
According to FIFA, FIFA+ Collect, a platform that will host these digital collections, will be released later in September. Fans will be required to get the FIFA+ app or use the website to register for it.
Speaking about the development, Romy Gai, the Chief Business Officer of FIFA explained that how fans engage with the game of football is changing fast. He believes that this move will connect fans as well as with football by “democratizing the ability to own a part of the FIFA World Cup.”
FIFA is not the only sports organization that has gone into Web3. NBA, as well as so many football clubs like Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, and Barcelona, have done likewise. The Olympic committee is also considering an NFT ticket come 2024.
