Meta, formerly Facebook, has announced on its Twitter account the expansion of NFT Instagram integration to 100 more countries.
This development will connect more users of the social media platform with over a 1.3billion users to Web3 features starting with NFTs. These 100 countries spread across Africa, the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and the Americas.
Meta is making this happen with the partnership of wallets like Coinbase Wallet, Hello Dapper Flow blockchain, Ethereum, Polygon, and Flow as these are the chains being supported for now.
Meta plans to allow Instagram users to connect their wallets from any of these brands Coinbase, Dapper, Rainbow, MetaMask, and Trust Wallet to their account and showcase their collectables minted on the Flow blockchain.

Digital Collectables and the Metaverse
Last month, Facebook tested the use of Ethereum and Polygon NFTs on user profiles. The plan was to include Solana and Flow blockchains in this process. Users with the access to activate this feature can connect their Facebook profile to their cryptocurrency wallets, and make posts using the NFTs.
Making a post with an NFT on Instagram will showcase a shimmer effect and some important information about the NFT. There will also be a tagging of both the creator and collector of the asset in the post.
Long before interest in NFTs, Meta has also shown a good taste for the development of the metaverse after taking a huge step to change the parent company’s name to Meta from Facebook. There have been Investments like the $10b raised in 2021. However, it seems that despite the loss recorded by the firm in its quest for metaverse development, Web3 is still a major part of its vision.
