One of the most important highlights of each year in the crypto industry is the convening of industry events where global players including experts and newbies meet to discuss the future of the industry.
In 2023, these are some of the top crypto events you should mark on your calendar.
1. World Crypto Conference, Switzerland
World Crypto Conference, 2023 in Switzerland will be one of the first crypto events in the new year. It’s holding from January 13-15, 2023 at Hyatt Regency, The Circle, Zürich, Switzerland.
World Crypto Conference 2023 is an event that brings discussions and innovations around DeFi and traditional finance in Europe. It’s targeted at connecting blockchain companies & startups, developers, investors, media and traditional corporations. The 2023 edition will also feature talks on NFTs, metaverse and much more.

2. The Open Metaverse Conference
If you want to attend a metaverse-focused event, then the Open Metaverse Conference is a good option. It involves thought leadership conversations, demos of products, and live entertainment with individuals, teams, and companies that are focused on making the development of the metaverse and Web3 better.
The Open Metaverse Conference will hold from February 8-9, 2023 in Los Angeles, California. Expected speakers include Neal Stephenson, Co-Founder of Lamina1; John Gaeta, CCO of InWorld AI; Rebecca Barkin, President of Lamina1; Cathy Hackl, founder of Journey, and globally recognized Metaverse and Web3 authority.
3. ETH Denver
ETHDenver is a two-week-long, yearly event from the global blockchain developers with a focus on those building on the Ethereum blockchain. It was launched in 2017 by John Paller to gather Ethereum-focused hackers and developers. In 2022, the event attracted more than 20,000 registrants with over 13,000 present at the event.
ETHDenver is all funded by the community alongside SporkDAO, the community-owned organization of ETHDenver, and the 2023 version will take place from February 24 to March 5, 2023, in the city of Colorado, US. 4. Blockchain Africa Summit (South Africa)
The Blockchain Africa Conference is one of the largest and most diverse blockchain-focused events in Africa. It started as Bitcoin Africa Conference in 2015 but was renamed to Blockchain Africa Conference. The event has attracted more than 9,000 attendees from more than 160 nations over its 9 years of existence.
From March 16 to 17, 2023, this year’s edition will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa alongside an online streaming channel. The event which has attracted sponsorship from Binance, Paxful, ByBit, Huobi, and other top crypto firms will bring leaders in the industry from around the world to discuss ideas around blockchain-based use cases across both financial and non-financial industries, cryptocurrency/digital asset regulation, and blockchain technology hurdles and challenges.

5. Paris Blockchain Week
Paris Blockchain Week is a Europe-based blockchain event that draws attention from all over the world. The last edition in 2022 had more than 6,000 attendees while more than 10,000 persons are expected at the 2023 edition.
The Paris Blockchain Week 2023 edition will hold from March 23 to 25, 2023 at Le Carrousel Du Louvre, Paris, France and will feature a hackathon, talent recruitment session, pitching of ideas, and more. Consensus 2023 will be held at the Austin Convention Center, Austin Texas, US from April 26 to April 28, 2023. 7. Blockchain Economy Summit – London, Dubai, and Istanbul
Blockchain Economy Summit is another huge event that’s focused on the impact of blockchain in the world. It brings key players of the crypto industry and experts together to discuss the future of finance especially as it relates to the digital economy.
While the maiden edition occurred in 2019, the event has continuously been held yearly and for 2023, Blockchain Economy Summit, London; Blockchain Economy Summit Dubai; and Blockchain Economy Summit, Istanbul will be held from 27-28 February, 2023; 8-9 March, 2023; and 8-11 May, 2023 respectively.
8. Bitcoin Conference 2023 (Miami)
Bitcoin Conference is unarguably the largest Bitcoin event in the world. The event that started in 2019 is focused on Bitcoin as the leading cryptocurrency in the world. In 2022, the first African Bitcoin Conference was held in Ghana with the likes of Jack Dorsey and Jack Mallers in attendance.
The announcement during the Bitcoin 2022 conference noted that the event in 2023 will be held at Miami Beach, from May 18 to 20. Expected speakers for the event that will attract more than 20,000 persons in total includes Michael Saylor, Chairman of Microstrategy; Obi Nwosu, CEO of Fedi; Kiara Bickers, author of Bitcoin Clarity amongst others. 9. Permissionless, US
Permissionless was launched by Blockworks and Bankless as the largest DeFi focused conference globally. It’s designed to bring both builders and investors together to enlarge the DeFi industry. The first edition was held in 2022 with over 5,000 persons in attendance.
Permissionless 2023 will be held from September 11-13 at Austin, Texas, US. Tickets are up for grabs here for those paying with fiat or crypto. Speakers from the last event such as Chris Dixon of Andreessen Horowitz, Vlad Tenev of Robinhood, and Mary-Catherine Lader of Uniswap Labs show that this year will be more exciting.
10. Token 2049
Moving to the Asian side of the world is the Token 2049 event which also takes place in London. It was started by Raphael Strauch in 2021 to bring global Web3 industry leaders, founders and executives of the leading crypto and blockchain companies to Asia and Europe to share their view on the market.
The last event, Token 2049 at London which held from November 9 to 10, 2022, attracted about 2,500 attendees, got sponsorships from Binance, ByBit, Polygon with personalities such as Kain Warwick, Founder, Synthetix and Emin Gün Sirer, Founder and CEO, Ava Labs as speakers.
Token 2049 for 2023 will be happening in Singapore, November 12 to 13, 2023, and it is estimated that an audience of 7,000 persons will be present. The event which will coincide with the F1 Singapore Grand Prix, and Asia Crypto Week will be filled with activities and discussions ranging from investments, Web3, sports and more. 11. BCAT Uganda
BCAT (Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Awareness Tour) is the largest crypto-based event by number in Africa which attracted up to 7,000 young crypto enthusiasts across Africa to the event at Enugu, South East, Nigeria in 2022.
It is aimed at exposing young Africans to the opportunity in the blockchain and crypto space; helping them build formidable skills and crafting a career path for them to change the continent.
