Social media giant, Twitter seems to be testing the crypto feature soon to be added to its Tip Jar service. The information was leaked by a Mobile developer who posted some updates on his Twitter handle displaying what the service will look like.
Alessandro Paluzzi, the mobile developer posted some screenshots of the reverse-engineered feature which showed users could add their Bitcoin and Ethereum addresses to their Twitter profile via which they can receive cash tips.
The concept of the feature basically is to enable seamless cash transfers in cryptocurrencies between users on the social media platform.
Prior to the leak, there was a report about twitter adding the Bitcoin tip feature to their Tip Jar service. Also, another report stated that the company would work closely with the Lightning network to facilitate this service.
The tipping function will be facilitated by the Network and users will be able to use it to make payments in Bitcoin. The report also noted the network will support custodial as well as non-custodial wallets. Twitter users will also need a strike account to receive tips but with the leak from Paluzzi, they might not need to link their strike accounts to add their wallet addresses.
The Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey is known for his bullish stance on Bitcoin and open mind for innovations in the crypto space. Back in July, he was said to have indicated that the company would bring Bitcoin to its Tip jar service. Asides that, he noted back then that Bitcoin would be a big part of the company’s future. Recent report also shows the chief executive wants to build a Decentralized Exchange for Bitcoin.
