Ubisoft launches Web3 card game ‘Might & Magic: Fates’ with Immutable

Ubisoft is working with Immutable to release Might & Magic: Fates, a blockchain-based card game.
In Might & Magic: Fates, players engage in strategy-based battles and use blockchain technology to trade NFT cards.
Through its collaboration with Immutable, Ubisoft is expanding the Might & Magic franchise by releasing a blockchain-enabled strategy card game called Might & Magic: Fates.
In its announcement, the team revealed that Might & Magic: Fates merges strategic gameplay with blockchain, using Immutable’s Web3 infrastructure to enable digital ownership for players.
The upcoming release for iOS and Android will introduce fresh gameplay elements, including faction-based strategies and a diverse selection of iconic characters and creatures.
Players will dive into a competitive arena where skill matters most, using their own customized decks built through trading and collecting a broad range of cards—to gain the upper hand.
“The game is free-to-play with no hard progression barriers. Players advance by collecting cards and in-game currency through gameplay,” Justin Hulog, chief studio officer for Immutable said.
“Additionally, those looking to speed up their progression or acquire specific cards can do so through marketplaces,” Hulog said.
Players will access platforms specifically designed for trading their digital collectibles.
Immutable’s cutting-edge Web3 platform will serve as the foundation for the game’s blockchain integration.
With games like Gods Unchained and Guild of Guardians, the firm has championed blockchain technology to ensure players truly own their virtual assets.
As a free-to-play NFT card game, Gods Unchained lets players gather, exchange, and battle with their player-owned, one-of-a-kind cards.
The game runs on Immutable’s gas-free layer-2 infrastructure and is shifting to Immutable zkEVM for enhanced operational features.
Guild of Guardians is a mobile role-playing game that lets players form teams of NFT heroes to raid dungeons.
Ubisoft is one of the select game publishers that have embraced crypto integration in their games.
In October 2024, the company announced the debut of its game that incorporates Web3 technology.
The game, Champions Tactics: Grimoria, debuted on Oasys’ Home Verse, a blockchain-backed layer-2 platform for Web3 gaming.
In December 2024, Ubisoft and the Arbitrum Foundation announced the debut of Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., a top-down shooter with Web3 features.
The game, set in Ubisoft’s universe, stars characters from beloved titles including Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Rayman, Assassin’s Creed, Beyond Good and Evil, The Crew, Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell, and Watch Dogs.
