Despite the rush and hush around blockchain, the metaverse, and Web3, Bill Gates has said that Web3 is not what we should concern ourselves with. AI is the way.
“AI is the big one. I don’t think Web3 was that big or that metaverse stuff alone was revolutionary but AI is quite revolutionary,” the co-founder of Microsoft said while answering questions on Reddit.

The tech mogul also replied to other questions from users asked from climate change to agriculture and taxes as well as the recent ChatGPT development. “I am impressed with this whole approach and the rate of innovation,” he said about ChatGPT and that the application is a sign of what is ahead.
Bill Gates on bitcoin, crypto and blockchain
The Billionaire has criticized cryptocurrencies several times while asserting that they will have an impact on the global payment system. “There’s a lot that bitcoin or Ripple and variants can do to make moving money between countries easier and getting fees down pretty dramatically. But bitcoin won’t be the dominant system,” he said inat an interview with Backchannel.
In another response to Bloomberg, Bill Gates explained that while bitcoin and blockchain makemakes transactions easier, the fluctuations in the value of the digital currency is a disadvantage. This disadvantage will hinder its adoption.
“We need things that draw on the revolution of bitcoin, but bitcoin alone is not good enough,” he noted.
At the business level, Microsoft has shown huge interest in the development of the metaverse and Web3 tools. In October last year, Ihsan Anabtawi, the Chief Marketing Officer of Microsoft UAE UAE, explained at the GITEX Global 2022 event in Dubai, how Microsoft Cloud is helping businesses develop solutions related to the metaverse. He noted that the combination of Web3 tools and the metaverse will disrupt how the internet functions while promoting ownership for users.
