AI dApps are competing to dominate the Web3 landscape

AI dApps are gaining ground in Web3, now holding 16% of active wallets. As AI interest grows, it challenges the traditional dominance of DeFi and gaming.

According to DappRadar, the dominance of Web3 is poised to be challenged by AI-decentralized applications.

Although gaming and DeFi have historically dominated the DApp space, AI is making significant progress and may soon challenge their dominance.

AI dApps now account for 16% of unique active wallets, a significant increase from 11% in February, according to DappRadar’s April report. Gaming and DeFi each maintain a 21% share.

DappRadar analyst Sara Gherghelas notes that AI-driven DApps are steadily carving out their niche within the decentralized landscape as enthusiasm for AI solutions rises across various sectors.

Should this trend continue, AI might soon rival and reshape the traditional stronghold of DeFi and gaming, signaling a fresh chapter in the DApp domain, Gherghelas added.

In April, the activity of AI DApps experienced a substantial increase, with the number of daily unique active wallets (dUAW) increasing by more than 26% to 3.8 million, compared to 2.6 million in February.

DeFi experienced a 16% decrease in activity, resulting in 4.8 million daily unique active wallets. This decrease was in the same region as the gaming sector, which experienced a 10% decline.

Gherghelas asserted that the majority of the top AI DApps that DappRadar observed have remained essentially unchanged. It is important to note that a significant number of these initiatives are associated with AI agent infrastructure. These initiatives are not merely capitalizing on the current trend; they are also constructing practical applications.

LOL was the top-ranked AI DApp on DappRadar by dUAW, and it is positioned as a mining initiative that has been enhanced by artificial intelligence.

The LOL AI bot allows users to transmit voice clips of laughter in Telegram channels where it is activated. The bot analyzes various factors, including pitch and frequency, to determine the reward in LOL native tokens.

In the interim, the second item on the list is Dmail Network, a decentralized communication service that is powered by AI.

World.Fun is the third-ranked platform; it functions as a launchpad that enables users to deploy AI agents into multi-agent simulations.

In a later remark, Gherghelas pointed out that this month, the leading AI dApps on our platform have maintained their stronghold, highlighting the enduring influence of early frontrunners. These projects are not just riding the wave of popularity; they’re also creating tangible solutions.

Last December, industry insiders in the crypto space predicted that AI agents would play a critical role in Web3 by 2025, with early use cases including on-chain transactions and crypto staking.

Industry insiders also expressed apprehension regarding the obstacles that AI agents may encounter, including regulatory pressures, technical difficulties, and the impending threat of centralization, despite the optimism.

In April, the number of dUAW generated by social DApps increased by 18%, reaching 3.6 million. As a result, their market share increased to over 15% for the month.

Gherghelas observed that Web3 is “maintaining its position,” despite the economic uncertainty and Trump’s tariffs. He cited 23 million daily active wallets in April, a decrease from 24 million in February.

She pointed out that April’s standout successes highlight an important story: user engagement is heavily swayed by the buzz and practical use, especially when it comes to AI and memecoins.
