Adidas launches NFT project, plans artistic real-life collaborations

Global sportswear and lifestyle brand, Adidas is teaming up with digital artists for NFT drops and collaborative projects, set to launch during Korea Blockchain Week.

The project called “Residency” is being designed and implemented by the in-house studio of Adidas, the Three Stripes Studio.

According to Adidas, the Residency project aims to herald the different talent in the art industry to celebrate its connection, and to encourage partnership between Adidas and artists.

This partnership spans the physical and digital worlds. Thanks to the Korea Blockchain Week, which is coming up in South Korea from September 5 to 6, 2023.

Furthermore, Adidas noted that the NFT collectibles will feature the works of prominent artists – the enigmatic MonkeeMoto and the creative force Adra Kandil, who is recognized as Dear Nostalgia.

MonkeeMoto is a Japanese artist with works in the field of game development and digital concept design.

Adra Kandil, on the other hand, is an artist from Lebanon whose artistic style is a blend of various elements. She has worked with fashion brands such as Gucci, Chanel, Cartier, and Roberto Cavalli.

The NFT collections will be distributed as both limited and open editions. The limited edition will include 100 works by each artist mentioned above, priced at 0.15 ETH (about $250) each and is for attendees of the blockchain event.

The open edition NFT collection, priced at 0.03 ETH (around $50), will be accessible for anyone to mint between September 6 to September 11, 2023.

When speaking about the project, Stacey King, Global Head of Communications and Activations for Adidas Studio, expressed her excitement about the connection of the project with the web3 ethos.

“It felt like such a natural step to go ‘all in,’ and create an even stronger pathway and platform for some of the coolest and most engaging artists in our community.”
