Floki has announced the launch of its digital store, Shop Floki. Describing the store, the team said that merchandise stores will allow users to buy unique items and fashion pieces, for personal use, as well as for pets.
Shop Floki is part of the Floki ecosystem that was launched in June 2021 by an unknown developer who left the project after its release. However, the community took responsibility for it, built a decentralized structure to manage it, and relaunched it. It attracted more than 400,000 holders in its first year.
The ecosystem is made up of Floki, the native token; Valhalla, an NFT gaming metaverse; FlokiFi, made up of several DeFi products; FlokiPlaces, the NFT marketplace; the University of Floki, and a lot more.
Further details also show that while Floki has a core team that represents the community, including the project’s lead developer Jackie Xu, decisions about Floki are made via a DAO vote using the Floki token. The project prides itself on a Viking-based community.
According to Floki, users will start placing orders in the Shop Floki from 8 PM UTC on Thursday, January 19th, using Binance pay.
The rise of memecoins
On January 11, 2023, Floki announced its website which was preceded by the launch of its game, Valhalla. From 2021, the core team has updated its community with new updates that make it truly rival Shiba Inu, another memecoin.
Speaking about memecoins, Shiba Inu also shared an update of its Shibarium blockchain which will be released on a date yet to be announced. It appears that memecoins are no longer for comedy or laughter as there are now more utilities built behind the projects.
From Shiba Inu with Shibarium (its native blockchain on Ethereum), Shiba Inu metaverse to Floki has an education platform, a metaverse game, fitted with a new store for users. Dogecoin, another memecoin, has plans for utilities beyond its coin such as the Gigawallet, Dogecoin SDK, and RadioDoge (Starlink + Radio nodes for remote locations).
