In partnership with crypto.com and FIFA, Visa has launched an NFT auction project as the 2022 FIFA world tournament approaches. The payment giant made the announcement in a tweet.
Currently, Visa is the payment partner of FIFA, while crypto.com is the official crypto sponsor of FIFA. The gesture aims to celebrate the world’s most popular sport, art, and technology.
The Visa Masters of Movement NFTs is designed to showcase some of the best goals by Jared Borgetti, Tim Cahill, Carli Lloyd, Michael Owen, and Maxi Rodriguez.
Bid as well as create NFTsÂ
According to the report, fans can access the project’s website to start bidding as auction winners will get the token in their crypto.com wallets and signed memorabilia from the player appended to the NFTs. The auction will last from 12 pm GMT, November 1, 2022, till 9 pm GMT, Movement 8, 2022.Â
Furthermore, fans will be allowed to design and mint NFTs. Visa also shared that proceeds from the auction will be sent to StreetChildUtd, a UK-based NGO.
Andrea Fairchild, the Senior Vice President and Head of Sponsorships at Visa, shared that the initiative is to celebrate football, art, and tech while bringing the world together.
Another official, Steven Kalifowitz, Chief Marketing Officer of Crypto.com, stated that the company is “excited to give fans a new way to engage with” the FIFA World Cup. Tokens received by fans will stay on the blockchain forever, he added.
