Telegram launches GIFT features with plans for NFT conversion. Gifts will become TON-based NFTs, ensuring secure on-chain ownership.

Later this year, Telegram Gifts will be convertible into TON-based NFTs, which can be auctioned and traded on-chain.

Telegram introduces “Gifts,” a new feature that allows users to send gifts to friends and loved ones. This is the latest addition to Telegram’s expanding array of features in recent months.

Telegram CEO Pavel Durov announced on his Telegram channel that with the holiday season and his birthday approaching, users will soon be able to send animated gifts to friends and family.

These gifts can be converted into NFTs, creating unique digital items. Durov mentioned that some gifts will be limited in number, and by later this year, users will be able to turn these special gifts into NFTs based on the TON blockchain.

Alongside the gifts feature, Telegram has enhanced its business verification service. This updated service allows companies to send verification codes to customers for just $0.01 each via the Fragment platform.

This method is expected to be faster and more secure than traditional SMS verification. Developers can test the platform’s features for free before integrating them into their applications.

Telegram’s growth in the Crypto

Telegram has made significant strides in the cryptocurrency arena by introducing features that integrate its app with digital currencies. Initially, the platform gained popularity within the crypto community by providing a space for various projects to build their networks.

The introduction of the Telegram Open Network (TON) project, which aimed to create a decentralized blockchain, further increased Telegram’s appeal in the crypto space. Despite facing legal challenges from the U.S. government, this project showcased Telegram’s strong commitment to cryptocurrency.

Additionally, the launch of Mini Apps on Telegram has simplified entry into the crypto world for many users. This mini-app ecosystem, featuring projects like Notcoin, Hamster Kombat, Blum, and Catizens, has boosted interaction and accessibility within the cryptocurrency landscape.
