Tonkeeper: A deep dive into the largest crypto wallet on TON

Tonkeeper: Explore an in-depth analysis of the largest cryptocurrency wallet on the TON blockchain, detailing its features and benefits.

Tonkeeper serves as a trusted TON-based crypto wallet, enabling users to safely store, send, trade, and receive Toncoin and other digital assets within the TON network. As a non-custodial wallet, it grants users full control over their private keys.

Equipped with features such as in-app swaps, staking options, and an integrated exchange, Tonkeeper streamlines various transactions. Robust security measures, including encryption and optional two-factor authentication, ensure the protection of users’ assets.

Since its debut on October 5, 2021, Tonkeeper has grown to be a vital component of both the TON and Telegram ecosystems.

Core features of Tonkeeper

Battery

One of the most exciting features of Tonkeeper is the Battery. This off-chain account allows users to conduct transactions with or without using $TON for fees. With the Battery, users can perform token swaps, token transfers, and NFT transfers.

The Battery’s capacity is measured in charges needed to cover network fees for specific transactions. Swapping tokens requires about 50 charges, while sending tokens and transferring NFTs cost around 10 and 4 charges, respectively.

As the Battery is used, its power decreases. Users can recharge their Battery through in-app purchases using a bank card, USDT, or cryptocurrencies like Notcoin.

It’s important to distinguish between gasless transactions and those conducted using the Battery. In a typical gasless transaction on Tonkeeper, only fungible cryptocurrency tokens, such as the stablecoin USDT, are processed.

In contrast, the Battery is user-charged and supports various transactions, including token and NFT transfers, and other activities involving smart contracts. By mid-June 2024, the Tonkeeper Battery had processed over 2 million transactions.

W5 Smart Wallet

The W5 Smart Wallet is another feature that integrates with Tonkeeper. Developed in collaboration with the TON core team, it allows users to perform gasless transactions. This means users no longer need Toncoin to pay transaction fees; instead, they can use the same tokens they are transferring, such as USDT for USDT transactions.

Additionally, the W5 Smart Wallet supports advanced features like processing up to 255 transactions simultaneously. Available on Tonkeeper, this new wallet aims to simplify interactions on the TON blockchain.

The wallet is designed with a user-friendly interface, making it accessible to both beginners and experienced users. It is available on multiple platforms, including mobile (Android and Apple) and desktop, and supports several languages.

The W5 Smart Wallet prioritizes enhanced security and usability, incorporating features like two-factor authentication and password recovery.

The primary difference between the Battery and the W5 Smart Wallet lies in their purpose and functionality. The W5 Smart Wallet enables gasless transactions and improves the overall user experience, while the Tonkeeper Battery covers gas fees for users.

W5 allows users to pay fees in USDT or Notcoin, whereas the Battery pays gas fees in Toncoin and charges users in their chosen tokens. In terms of user experience, W5 offers features like parallel processing and advanced security measures, while the Battery simplifies the transaction process for those who do not hold Toncoin.

Signer App

Tonkeeper also functions with the Signer App. Launched in August, Signer is a distinct app by Tonkeeper that allows users to sign TON transactions without storing private keys in the main wallet app. It adds an extra layer of security for users of Tonkeeper.

With it, users can sign transactions with QR codes or by pairing with the Tonkeeper app, while keeping private keys offline.

Others

Tonkeeper users can use the Tonkeep education hub to educate users about the basics of the crypto industry as well as about Tonkeeper and other products in the TON ecosystem.

A new feature has been introduced in the Tonkeeper app that allows users to find different apps in the Tonkeeper Browser section. This section includes tools, games, NFTs, exchanges, and services for digital nomads. These services for digital nomads include gift cards, SIM cards, VPNs, and more.

Tonkeeper has introduced the Tonkeeper Pro service, tailored to provide sophisticated wallet analysis tools. This service is particularly beneficial for professionals integrating Tonkeeper into their business workflows.

Tonkeeper Pro allows users to conduct up to 255 transactions simultaneously, making it ideal for businesses needing to process bulk payments such as salaries, affiliate commissions, or mass token distributions.

Recently, Tonkeeper added multi-wallet accounts to Tonkeeper Pro, enabling users to create additional recovery phrases for each wallet, which can then be managed within the Tonkeeper app.

The free tier of Tonkeeper Pro supports the creation of up to three child wallets, each featuring a unique address and ensuring anonymity from the parent and sibling wallets.

For those with a Pro subscription, the ability to generate an unlimited number of wallets is unlocked, with the desktop version accommodating up to 500 wallets.

User growth, and partnerships

As of May 2024, Tonkeeper reported over 1.3 million active users, with significant growth in regions like Nigeria. This rapid adoption is driven by the wallet’s user-friendly design, strong security features, and integration with popular TON-based projects like the NotCoin game. T

As of July, Tonkeeper had been installed over 25 million times, and 30 million people used it monthly.

Its main partner is the TON blockchain, on which it is built. It also collaborates with other TON-based products like DeDust and StonFi, EdChess, and VPN services like TON VPN.

This expansion highlights its growth and user-friendly interface for both seasoned crypto users and newcomers.

Tonkeeper also plans to introduce additional features, including extra blockchain integrations, enhanced security, and support for more decentralized apps. The aim is to become the leading wallet for the TON ecosystem and beyond.
