Chiliz has announced a multi-year strategic partnership with the K-League, South Korea’s premier professional football league.
As part of the collaboration, the K-League will integrate its official fantasy game, “K-League Fantasy,” into the Chiliz ecosystem, providing millions of fans with new opportunities to engage with the league.
Additionally, the K-League, recognized as one of Asia’s top football competitions, will become the first sports organization to serve as a node validator on the Chiliz chain.
This strategic move positions the K-League within the Chiliz Chain ecosystem, a layer-1 protocol tailored for the sports and entertainment industries.
Chiliz is a blockchain-based platform that focuses on the sports and entertainment industry. The platform offers a range of blockchain-enabled solutions that enhance fan experiences using digital assets.
It has its Layer 1 EVM-compatible blockchain called Chiliz Chain, which is designed to become the leading infrastructure for sports, attracting teams, fans, and developers to build web3 products and experiences that bring fans and brands together.
Chiliz Chain operates on a Proof of Staked Authority (PoSA) consensus mechanism, which is a centralized governance structure with proposal origination limited to the Chiliz team, and voting consensus is delegated to and executed by node owners.
The project which is backed by Jump Crypto, the investment arm of Chicago-based market maker Jump Trading Group, aims to empower blockchain projects that grow the Web3 sports industry by providing strategic guidance, funding, and support for project growth.
Following the collaboration, Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO of Chiliz, expressed excitement about contributing to the growth of the K-League’s international audience.
Also, Yeonsang Cho, General Secretary of the K-League, highlighted the league’s dedication to innovation with an emphasis on the potential of web3 technology to enhance fan experiences.
Before striking a deal with the K-League, Chiliz has established partnerships with over 100 leading sporting organizations globally, including UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup champions.
