Drip’s CEO unveils partnership with Phantom to streamline Web3 user experience

In an engaging fireside chat at Breakpoint, KZ, Head of Growth at ORCA, delved into the journey of Drip alongside Vibhu Norby, CEO of Drip. The discussion unveiled key insights into their experiences before entering the crypto space and highlighted the transformative shift in focus that led to the evolution of Drip.

DRiP on Solana is focused on leveraging Solana’s technology to create and distribute digital assets, particularly NFTs, in a cost-effective manner. 

The project aims to facilitate the engagement of content creators and the distribution of digital assets to a wide audience, contributing to the growth of the Web3 creator economy on the Solana blockchain.

Orca is a Solana-based decentralized exchange (DEX), offering SPL token trading and incentivized token pools. It is designed to offer a simplified interface for trading SPL tokens with minimal slippage and near-instant transaction finality, catering to both experienced users and beginners.

Drip’s origin and evolution

Vibhu shared his pre-crypto background, noting his involvement in building retail stores in the real world after which he pivoted into Web3. This marked the beginning of Drip’s creation, which was developed concurrently with Salon Spaces. 

Salon Spaces was designed as the Drip’s incubator. However, the CEO revealed the pivotal decision to wind down Salon Spaces, redirecting their efforts toward Drip, a side project that burgeoned into a platform with over 800,000 users. 

Drip’s unique value proposition

Being a web3 social project, the CEO emphasized that Drip’s success hinges on its accessibility. They have achieved this by offering a free entry point, eliminating the need for tokens or KYC procedures.

According to the CEO, this approach significantly reduces the barriers for users, shifting the value proposition from trading to collecting and enjoying content.

As the conversation progressed, Vibhu elaborated on the platform’s commitment to delivering art every Wednesday. This promise has been fulfilled on a large scale, with Drip recently surpassing 800,000 users.

Drip’s unique approach involves partnering with creators, such as artists, prank video YouTubers, and musicians. Together, they build a fan base on-chain and distribute content directly to the audience.

Partnership with Phantom

During the discussion, Vibhu announced a strategic partnership with Phantom. This collaboration aims to enhance user onboarding and engagement, aligning perfectly with Drip’s mission of making crypto experiences more accessible and inclusive.

Phantom is a user-friendly crypto wallet that allows users to store, send, receive, collect, and swap tokens on the Solana and Ethereum blockchains. It can be accessed on various platforms, including iOS, Android, and as a web extension.

The CEO of Drip explained that the partnership’s main objective is to introduce people to simple on-chain transactions and gradually guide them towards more complex experiences. 

He emphasized the challenges faced by individuals entering the crypto space and highlighted how this collaboration focuses on providing users with straightforward and user-friendly experiences.

Furthermore, he shared inspiring success stories from Drip, such as that of “Designs,” a creator who lost their job during the pandemic but found support and financial stability through the platform. 

Drip’s unique patronage model, known as “Say Thanks,” has played a vital role in helping creators like “Designs” sustain themselves by receiving direct support from their community.
