Etherscan, a widely used blockchain explorer and onchain analytics platform for the Ethereum blockchain, has introduced a new AI tool from OpenAI. This tool, called Code Reader, allows users on the Etherscan platform to analyze the source code of smart contracts. By harnessing the power of AI, Code Reader enables users to retrieve and interpret the source code of a specific contract address.
Etherscan provides a comprehensive set of features for users to explore, monitor, and analyze different aspects of the Ethereum network. These include transactions, addresses, smart contracts, tokens, and more.
According to additional information released by Etherscan, while the tool is designed to enhance user efficiency, users are advised to verify the information and answers provided by the AI tool. The responses are generated by OpenAI’s large language model (LLM) and are intended for informational purposes only.
Furthermore, in order to access the tool, users must possess a valid OpenAI API key and have prior experience using OpenAI. Unlike the ChatGPT chat model, which supports ongoing conversation threads, the code reader does not allow for “continued conversation threads.”
AI in blockchain and improvement of Etherscan
AI is making significant strides in the crypto and blockchain ecosystem. In addition to the development of AI-based cryptocurrencies like SingularityNET (AGI) and Fetch.ai (FET), AI is now being utilized to enhance analytical processes within blockchain platforms. For instance, Bybit has incorporated ToolsGPT to assist users in conducting more effective analyses pertaining to trading and other activities offered by the crypto exchange.
In early June 2023, Etherscan took steps to enhance its services by introducing an advanced filter. The aim was to simplify and expedite blockchain analysis, enabling users to refine their search and promptly access the required data.
