Manchester United has officially released its first NFT on the Tezos blockchain. According to the announcement, the Manchester United NFTs are free and will not require any fan to pay to acquire any; “the first collection is a gift to fans, meaning that there is no price to mint.”
Manchester United said that the collectibles would be a vital part of the company’s virtual experience as holders will have access to players, exclusive content and more experiences over time.
The NFTs released are classified into three types – the Classic key, the Rare key and the Ultra Rare key. According to the description of each class of the NFTs, the first which is the Classic key will grant fans access to participate in giveaways, drops, and secret channels on Manchester United’s discord community.
The next category (Rare key) offers greater benefits and prizes, including discounts and one on one talk time with celebrity players of Man Utd. The last category — the Ultra Rare key) includes the benefits of both the Classic key & the Rare key and an invitation to visit Old Trafford, the official stadium of the club, to enjoy the virtual experience.
Roadmap of the Manchester United collectibles
On November 14, 2022, Manchester United made the first announcement revealing that its digital collectibles will be released on Tezos. Further details by the club state that fans will have to register in order to gain access to the NFTs when they are released.
A few days ago, the NFTs went live on Tezos with a claiming period that ends on December 21, 22.59 GMT. According to the Club, further NFT release from the club will require a fee to access.
Manchester United explained that the NFT project is a mission to build a virtual community using Web3 tools to connect with their fans.
