Animoca Brands has partnered with LayerZero to create a global hackerhouse project. The program is designed to advance the development of cross-chain standards and real-world use cases of interoperable digital assets.
Animaco Brands is a game software and venture capital firm founded in 2014 by Yat Siu. The firm has invested huge capital in the development of Web3 tools especially those related to the open metaverse, ownership, and gaming. LayerZero Labs is a company focused on developing LayerZero, which is an omnichain interoperability protocol that aids cross-communication across chains.
The LayerZero-Animoca Brands Hackerhouse program seeks to organize events around the world where developers as well as teams interested in advancing the usage of omnichain protocols. It is also targeted at enhancing the adoption of blockchain for everyday products.
More interoperability
The debut event for the project was held in Hong Kong and saw the appearance of Zellic, OtterSec, Brinc, and Cyberport, and more than 50 members from 25+ firms. Details of the event showed that the attendee created prototypes based on LayerZero.
Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, explained that the partnership with LayerZero will speed up the standardization of an open metaverse. It will “also serve as a venue where relevant stakeholders can gather, discuss, and witness the potential of truly interoperable digital assets.”
Bryan Pellegrino, co-founder and CEO of LayerZero, and Ian Chan, Chief Corporate Development Officer of Cyberport, also affirmed the project as a necessity for the tech world.
“This joint initiative with Animoca Brands is a huge step forward in LayerZero’s mission to advance the interoperability landscape,” Bryan Pellegrino added.
The next hackerhouse event by Animaco Brands and LayerZero is scheduled for next year in Korea.
