On October 3rd, the leading decentralized cryptocurrency exchange Sushi (SushiSwap) announced Jared Grey’s official appointment as the “Head Chef” on its Twitter page. The community had earlier chosen him for this position. .The position was given to Jared Grey with the goal of carrying out the 2.0 roadmap and vision for Sushi as the team specifically vowed in the Sushi 2.0 plan to identify, assess, and conduct a formal executive leadership search across the entire firm and beyond.

Sushi’s operational inefficiency caused it to decline a few months after 0xMaki left, and people began to pay more attention to a long-term strategy. Sushi was reduced to a shell of its former self as a result of internal power conflicts. Community members took the initiative to resolve the problems and forge a path forward along with a team driven to keep Sushi open. The remaining team was left to maintain business as usual. A long-term vision and proposition were the results of such trials.
On the 11th of May, 2022, the community decisively approved of this plan, voting 9.6M in favor. The community demanded that SUSHI find a Head Chef in the Sushi 2.0 proposal. The group launched a leadership search process right away. After a thorough search and vetting process involving people from different walks of life, the team selected 5 final candidates from a pool of community, team, and individual nominations. Before being selected for the final stage, the final contenders went through a series of community AMAs, discussions, interviews, and written proposal exercises. The Sushi community reached an agreement, and a record 13 million votes were cast, with approximately 11 million of those votes ( 84%) being in support of Jared Grey.
