The decentralized exchange KiloEx offered a 10% white hat reward to the hacker who exploited $7.5 million in crypto from its platform.
KiloEx announced that if the hacker fails to accept the white hat bounty, it will take legal action and expose the hacker’s identity.
On April 15, KiloEx directed an offer to the hacker who had exploited millions from its DEX.
According to KiloEx, it worked alongside law enforcement, cybersecurity experts, and exchanges to uncover insights into the hacker’s activities.
The DEX provided wallet addresses related to the hackers, and KiloEx and other groups involved in the investigation are monitoring these addresses.
KiloEx expressed its readiness to seize the stolen funds if necessary.
KiloEx made an offer of $750,000 to the hacker if the hacker agreed to return 90% of the stolen assets.
According to KiloEx, it would treat the incident as a white hat exploit if the hacker gave back the stolen assets.
Cybersecurity firms reported on April 14 that a price oracle vulnerability caused the exploit.
PeckShield’s report stated that the stolen assets included $3.3 million in Base, $3.1 million in opBNB, and $1 million in BSC tokens.
The exploit occurred due to the hacker manipulating the price data used by a smart contract, as blockchain security companies reported.
The platform responded to the attack by suspending its DEX and announced that it had now controlled the exploit.
Should the hacker return the stolen assets, the DEX promised to move past the matter and officially resolve the issue. KiloEx wrote:
“We will tweet about this resolution, acknowledging your cooperation and closing the case without further action.”
If the hacker accepts the offer, the DEX instructs them to communicate via email or an on-chain message.
The platform clarified that if the hacker declines the offer, it will pursue legal action with law enforcement and collaborate with its cybersecurity partners to investigate.
“Your identity and activities will be exposed to relevant authorities. We will pursue legal action relentlessly. The choice is yours. Act now to avoid irreversible consequences,” KiloEx wrote.
