The year 2025 could be quite bullish for the BNB Chain and its ecosystem, with expected improvements like AI integration and block time adjustments.
A recently released roadmap indicates that the BNB Chain team plans to speed up transactions, reduce costs, expand AI-powered applications, and integrate artificial intelligence with developer tools.
The BNB Chain is a blockchain platform created by Binance to enable decentralized applications (dApps) and digital assets. It consists of four key elements: BNB Smart Chain, BNB Greenfield, opBNB, and zkBNB. The native currency, BNB, fuels the ecosystem by handling transactions, governance, and staking, acting as its backbone.
BNB Chain wants to cut block time from three seconds to less than one second after a successful 2024 with a 41.7% rise in Total Value Locked (TVL), 4.7 million daily active users (DAU) on opBNB, and a 67% drop in financial losses from security breaches ($162M in 2023 → $53M in 2024).
The network will continue processing 100 million transactions daily while maintaining high efficiency. In 2024, BNB Chain enhanced scalability by launching the Parallel Ethereum Virtual Machine on opBNB and Consecutive Block Production on BSC. These upgrades pave the way for even greater performance in 2025.
BNB Chain is also expanding gasless transactions in 2025. In 2024, the network introduced Megafuel, allowing stablecoin users to make transactions without paying gas fees. Over 16 million users have already completed more than 25 million of these transactions. In 2025, BNB Chain will extend gasless transactions to enable users to pay gas fees with stablecoins or other BEP-20 tokens.
Additionally, BNB Chain aims to enhance security by eliminating malicious Maximal Extractable Value (MEV) attacks, particularly “Sandwich Attacks.”
These attacks occur when blockchain miners or validators manipulate transactions to increase their profits. Instead of confirming transactions in the order received, they reorder, insert, or remove transactions for their benefit.
BNB Chain validators will introduce better block voting and transaction circulation to completely prevent such attacks.
Features from Ethereum’s EIP-7702 will be implemented in BNB Chain wallets. EIP-7702 enables regular Ethereum wallets (EOAs) to temporarily serve as smart contracts within a single transaction. This allows for batch transactions, gas payments in alternative tokens, and advanced security features without requiring permanent changes to the wallet.
For faster, simpler, and more user-friendly asset management, BNB Chain will also incorporate AI-powered assistants into wallets. Additionally, an autonomous AI agent will facilitate the development of more dapps with AI capabilities. The chain aims to introduce data ownership and monetization, focusing particularly on the healthcare sector.
Following its path in 2024, the team stated that “BNB Chain will keep optimizing and consolidating developer tools including” streamlined SDKs and APIs and BNB Chain AI Code Copilot.
BNB Chain stated that they would continue to support the meme ecosystem. “We are happy to see many of the meme tool providers integrate with BNB Chain,” they said, and “will continue to work closely with them in 2025 and beyond”.
Binance has expanded beyond its exchange origins, contributing to the development of BNB Chain, a community-driven blockchain.
Binance Labs, previously its investment arm, has now become independent, rebranding as YZi Labs. Ella Zhang, the former head of Binance Labs, has returned to lead YZi Labs.
Meanwhile, Changpeng Zhao (CZ) remains actively involved, guiding its investment committee.
