Binance has received a cybersecurity professional award from the Hong Kong Police (HKPF) in acknowledgment of its commitment to cybersecurity.

The award shows its dedication and proactive measures in safeguarding the security of its users within the Web3 space. “This award is a testament to our unwavering dedication and efforts to ensure the security of our users in the evolving Web3 space,” Binance said.

Launched in 2016, Binance is the sole Web3 firm to have received this award. The 2024 edition was collaboratively assembled by the HKPF, the Government Computer Emergency Response Team Hong Kong (GovCERT.HK), and the Hong Kong Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Centre (HKCERT).

The committee acknowledges the exchange’s dedicated efforts in elevating security measures and supporting the HKPF in addressing virtual asset-related crimes, contributing to its well-deserved recognition in this year’s selection process.

According to HKPF, the emergence of the digital age has brought concerns related to crime trends. “We believe it is crucial to increase cooperation with stakeholders in the industry and strengthen the effectiveness of law enforcement to combat crime through resource sharing, intelligence exchange, and talent cultivation,” it added.

The Police Force also expressed gratitude to Binance for its support in making sure that law enforcement officers combat criminals. It revealed that it’ll continue “to communicate and cooperate with industry experts to ensure the continued security of cyberspace.”

Carlos Mak, a representative from the Binance Investigations Team, expressed gratitude to the HKPF upon receiving the award on behalf of Binance.

Mak emphasized that the award is a significant acknowledgment of their dedication and initiatives to enhance the security of Web3 networks.

He highlighted Binance’s ongoing commitment to collaborate closely with law enforcement authorities in the relentless pursuit of eliminating criminals within the industry.

Mak affirmed that this collaboration will persist in the future, contributing to the strengthening of global Web3 security and the establishment of a reliable Web3 ecosystem.
