It was incubated within Coinbase, benefiting from their extensive experience in building cryptocurrency products over the past decade.

Designed to be low-cost, developer-friendly, and scalable, Base offers easy fiat on-ramps, seamless Coinbase integrations, and access to the $130B assets on the Coinbase platform. It is secured by Ethereum and embraces decentralization, which is critical for creating an open, global crypto ecosystem.
Among the projects mentioned are Ethereum Attestation Service, Happy Friday Coffee, Stanite Labs, Dailofrog, and Receipts.
While this is not an exhaustive list, Base also invited its community to nominate other promising projects building on the Base network. These projects represent the vibrant and innovative community that contributes to Base.
Since launch, Base has experienced significant losses from exploits on projects built on it. These exploits were part of a larger trend of security breaches and thefts in the crypto industry in 2023. In August alone, projects built on Base were attacked at least four times, resulting in over $23.4 million being stolen across the entire industry.
