StarkWare debuts mobile-optimized ZK prover

StarkWare launches STARK Two, a mobile-optimized ZK prover for enhanced privacy & verification on devices like smartphones and laptops, boosting blockchain use.

Blockchain firm StarkWare has introduced STARK Two (S-two), a zero-knowledge (ZK) prover that enhances privacy and verification capabilities on common devices such as smartphones, laptops, and web browsers.

With the public alpha launch of STARK Two, StarkWare aims to enable users to generate zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs directly on their own devices.

This tool works on CPUs, GPUs, and web browsers, allowing users to validate cryptographic information without relying on central servers, thus transforming privacy and verification in the blockchain space.

“S-two will bring STARK proving to everyday devices and open the door for new real-world proving use cases,” said Eli Ben-Sasson, StarkWare co-founder and CEO. He added that the tool could empower the next wave of ZK applications.

The Israeli company, known for driving Ethereum scalability and privacy, is reinforcing its commitment to computational decentralization through this innovation.

Leading ecosystem participants like Kakarot have already incorporated S-two into ETHProofs to validate blocks more efficiently. ZAN and AntChain OpenLabs have implemented GPU acceleration to enhance performance further.

Nexus is actively developing standardized RISC-V traces to ensure the new system remains compatible with its architecture.

StarkWare is focusing on decentralizing proving capability and giving users control over their own data.

This technology enables users to make payments without exposing balances, verify identities without revealing personal details, and provide cryptographic proof of achievements in offline video games.

Sectors like finance, healthcare, and education can use this technology to verify proofs while protecting sensitive information, showing its value beyond cryptocurrency.

STARK Two lets users verify the authenticity of academic certificates and medical records while preserving privacy.

StarkWare COO, Oren Katz, emphasized that ZK technology supports transparent salary payments without exposing private data.

He described the development as “a big step toward bringing zero-knowledge tech into the mainstream.”

Katz also highlighted that local proof computation can spark innovation in other fields.

He explained that players can enjoy games offline and later validate their progress through cryptographic proofs.

“An operator, instead of running all logic onchain to prove integrity, can run it on their own servers and simply generate a proof that it was executed correctly,” Katz said.

While zero-knowledge cryptography has always offered privacy potential, it traditionally demanded heavy infrastructure.

Today, even a mobile device can quickly create complex and private cryptographic proofs.
