Layer two network launched by Sony Block Solutions Lab, Soneium, has finally gone live on mainnet.
Sony Block Solutions Labs, a branch of the Sony Group, introduces Soneium’s L2, designed to empower creators, fans, and communities. This initiative aims to protect rights, foster global connections, and support an open internet.
Accompanying the L2 launch are two key projects intended to cultivate a thriving ecosystem for innovation and creativity. One project is a fan marketing platform by SNFT Inc., developed to strengthen connections between creators, brands, and their audiences.
Utilizing NFTs (non-fungible tokens), creators can reward fans for their support while collecting vital data to refine marketing strategies. This approach enhances community engagement and broadens creators’ reach effectively and efficiently.
The second project, S.BLOX, is a cryptoasset exchange service by S.BLOX Inc. It seeks to create new opportunities for creators and brands to grow with ease. S.BLOX is integral to the Soneium ecosystem, offering services that promote collaboration and creativity while providing users access to advanced blockchain technologies.
Speaking on the launch, Jun Watanabe, Chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs, stated that Soneium was designed to “transcend boundaries, empowering innovation and collaboration. At Sony BSL, we’re proud to create a platform redefining how communities and creators interact with the internet.”
For Sota Watanabe, Director of Sony Block Solutions Labs, the vision for Soneium is both “simple and ambitious”: to create an open internet where creativity can thrive freely and fairly. The platform is meant to inspire more people to embrace the possibilities of Web3 technology, which focuses on decentralization and user empowerment.
“Our vision with Soneium is simple but ambitious: to build an open internet where creativity flows freely and fairly and to empower the next wave of users to embrace Web3,says Sota Watanabe, Director, Sony Block Solutions Labs.
Five months ago, Sony launched its testnet five months ago. The goal of the public testnet was to provide an opportunity for developers and creators to begin building dApps and explore the network’s capabilities. Like the mainnet launch that had additional initiatives, the testnet launch also came with an incubation program—the Soneium Spark.
According to Soneium, the program will support and onboard builders to the ecosystem. Soneium will provide support for projects to succeed, such as promoting them widely, website features, social media promotions, and interteam connections at events. Additionally, Soneium will offer investment opportunities and funding through the team and their partners, with investments up to $100,000 per team.
Jun Watanabe seeks to transform the relationship between communities and creators on the web via Soneium, while Sota Watanabe imagines a liberated internet where creativity thrives equitably and unhindered.
