Trumps firm, Trump Media, seeks trademark for TruthFi

Donald Trump’s media company, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), is pursuing a trademark for TruthFi, a potential crypto payment platform.

Donald Trump’s media company, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), recently filed a trademark application for TruthFi, a proposed cryptocurrency payment platform.

TruthFi aims to support crypto payments, digital asset trading, and financial services, signaling TMTG’s growing interest in diversifying beyond its Truth Social platform.

In addition, Trump Media is reportedly in talks to acquire Bakkt, a cryptocurrency trading company, further advancing its crypto ventures.

These moves align with Trump’s broader crypto ambitions, including plans for regulatory changes and making the U.S. a global crypto leader. Shares in both TMTG and Bakkt have surged following these developments.

Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) is a company founded by Donald J. Trump. It operates Truth Social, a social media platform catering to Trump’s supporters and emphasizing free speech. The company aims to challenge mainstream tech giants and expand into other sectors.

TMTG’s broader strategy involves diversifying its offerings and leveraging Trump’s political influence to grow in the digital and financial arenas. It has also pursued acquisitions, such as its interest in the crypto platform Bakkt.

Donald Trump’s involvement with cryptocurrency has evolved over time. Initially, he was skeptical of digital currencies, labeling Bitcoin a potential scam in 2019. However, during his 2024 presidential campaign, his stance shifted significantly, reflecting a more favorable view of crypto.

His proposals included creating a strategic Bitcoin reserve to position the U.S. as a leader in digital assets and fostering a pro-crypto regulatory environment by reducing government intervention.

Trump has also pledged to replace key officials like the SEC chair to end what he calls anti-crypto policies. His campaign platform emphasizes making the U.S. the “crypto capital of the world.” Trump further articulated his vision by stating, “If Bitcoin is going to the moon, I want America to be the nation that leads the way.”

Trump Media & Technology Group’s foray into crypto, including plans for the TruthFi payment platform and potential acquisition of Bakkt, complements his pro-crypto agenda and could influence his policies if elected.
