The NEAR.AI Assistant was recently unveiled at the Redacted conference in Bangkok, aligning with their ambitious plans to build the world’s largest open-source AI model. This model can launch memecoins in seconds and search the web to purchase products with fiat currency.
Moreover, NEAR.AI Assistant intends to integrate additional functions, enabling users to easily book flights or order takeaway food on Web2 sites.
Illia Polusukhin, Co-founder of Near protocol, launches NEAR.AI Assistant at the Redacted conference in Bangkok on Oct. 10, revealing their plans towards achieving the world’s largest open-source AI model.
The Near protocol co-founder, showcased the capabilities of the newly launched AI Assistant by using it to spin up a backstory, website and logo for a new Frog memecoin and then instantly launching it on Near’s version of Pump.fun.
The AI Assistant was also able to search the web for custom T-shirt printers and generate a mock website interface in real-time, showcasing its ability to quickly retrieve information and create interactive interfaces.
Polusukhin, who was known to be amongst the authors of the research that led to development of ChatGPT, revealed that the feature involving using the assistant to book flights was not yet available in the alpha, “we have a prototype of that, but it’s not live yet.”
He mentioned, “But this is an open platform. Anybody can go right now and add more agents, for example, booking flights, and it will effectively start working as everybody’s assistant.”
“So part of our launch is to showcase what’s possible, and then let people go build lots of different integrations.”
Near Intents
Near’s AI Assistant stands out from other AI agents due to its innovation chain abstraction technology that allows users to swap any asset by simply signing a transaction.
Near Intents, currently available in beta with trading limits, facilitates native asset swaps between Bitcoin, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base and Near Protocol, allowing seamless transactions.
Aurora Labs founder Alex Shevchenko revealed that Near Intents will expand its reach by integrating Solana and Telegram Open Network by year-end, with plans to add Dogecoin, BNB, Bitcoin Cash, XRP, and Tron in the near future. This move brings non-smart contract blockchains into the DeFi ecosystem.
While showcasing the technology on stage, Shevchenko plugged in a MetaMask wallet, and swapped between Tether and USD Coin, before then swapping again into Bitcoin.
AI agents talking to AI agents
Although the immediate use case is swapping native tokens, Shevchenko highlighted that the Intents protocol was designed to enable AI agents to communicate and coordinate to share tasks.
“An AI agent can understand that: ‘OK I don’t know how to open for you a Revolut account, but maybe there is an agent who is able to do this?’ So then they need to figure out how to create an Intent. So one AI agent is saying [to another AI agent], ‘OK, I would like you, for this price, to open up a bank account for my user.’”
Through Near Intent, the AI agents would be able to make an agreement, including dispute resolution, and then pay in the required currency.
Market makers would also ensure that the trades go through on the back end, enabling them to tap into the liquidity on centralized platforms such as Binance. Current market makers include Peanut Trade, with G20 coming on board soon.
Near Intent is open source and available to be built upon, and compatible with any wallet, and allows the use of any market maker.
“This is a reference implementation of the interface. All of the builders who are building their own interfaces can take it and include it,” he said.
