Sony Block Solutions Labs (Sony BSL) has officially launched the Soneium Mina20520to testnet, marking the next phase of the Soneium blockchain ecosystem. This public testnet provides developers and creators with the opportunity to begin building decentralized applications (dApps) and explore the network’s capabilities ahead of the mainnet launch.
Soneium is a blockchain platform developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs. It’s designed as a layer-2 solution on top of Ethereum, meaning it builds upon the existing Ethereum network to offer enhanced features like faster transaction speeds and lower costs. It also leverages the Op Stack developed by the Optimism Foundation.
Soneium Minato is a test version of the platform, made for developers to safely try out and build apps before releasing them on the main network. It provides a quick and affordable way to develop apps, using tools that work well with Ethereum, which many developers already use for Web3 apps. This makes it easier for developers to use what they already know and have while creating new apps on the Soneium platform.
The testnet also helps developers and creators build early communities, allowing them to get important feedback at this early stage. Users can try out the apps on Soneium Minato and share their thoughts, which will help improve these projects in the future.
Sony Block Solutions Labs, a division within Sony Group Corporation that focuses on blockchain technology and its applications, added that, accompanying the testnet launch is the announcement of the Soneium Spark incubation program.
The Soneium Spark incubation program will support and onboard builders to the Soneium ecosystem. The two projects are crafted to further drive Sony’s commitment through the Sony BSL to encourage innovation and growth within the Web3 space.
“Joining the Soneium Spark Program gives you the ultimate edge with official Sony Block Solutions Labs support,” SBL said. “As a winner, you will benefit from our comprehensive support package, which is customized to your project’s unique needs.”
Soneium will provide strong support for projects to succeed such as promoting the project widely, featuring it on their website, boosting it through social media, and giving opportunities to connect with other teams at events.
They also will help the projects grow by connecting teams with top companies, potential partners, and investors. Team members will have access to expert tools and resources to build and improve your project.
Additionally, Soneium will offer investment opportunities and funding through the Soneium team and their partners with investments up to $100,000 available per team.
The first cohort of Soneium Spark will begin with opening applications in the coming weeks. The incubation period will start in the middle of October and run through the upcoming months. It will be held fully online with offline events,
Sota Watanabe, Director of Sony Blockchain Solutions Labs, says that Soneium grows stronger when it teams up with developers. The Soneium Spark program connects Web3 and Web2, startups and big companies, and creative builders with everyday users.
Jun Watanabe, Chairman of Sony Blockchain Solutions Labs, says that launching the testnet is the first step in building a community of creators who can bring different ideas together using Soneium.
