Catizen to launch Game center to support Web3 game development

Catizen is set to launch its Game Center, a new hub designed to support and accelerate Web3 game development, fostering innovation and growth.

Catizen has announced it will be launching a game center before the end of the year 2024. The revelation was made known by Tim Wong, the Chairman of the Catizen Foundation, during a Web3 gaming X Space held by Coindesk focused on the future of Web3 games.

Tim Wong, the Chairman of the Catizen Foundation, discussed their exploration of Telegram and the TON ecosystem, driven by its anticipated widespread adoption. He said that the Catizen team conducted numerous tests before deciding on TON. 

He added that throughout this process, their confidence in Web3 and Web3 games remained unwavering. This is hinged on their belief in the advantages, tools, and utilities provided by the Web3 space. 

He also highlighted a noticeable transition in the gaming industry, moving from the conventional Web2 framework to the more advanced Web3 paradigm. This shift is seen as a significant evolution, bringing new opportunities and innovations to the gaming sector.

Catizen is a play-to-earn game that has found a home within the Telegram messaging app, allowing users to immerse themselves in the role of a virtual cat city mayor.

At the heart of the gameplay lies a simple yet addictive mechanic – the act of “swiping to combine” cats, which not only levels them up but also generates in-game currency for the player.

As the mayor of this metropolis, players are tasked with developing and expanding their virtual city, constructing buildings, upgrading infrastructure, and managing the needs of their cat citizens.

This hands-on approach to city management not only provides a sense of accomplishment but also serves as a gateway to earning rewards.

Catizen’s “play-to-airdrop” model incentivizes active participation, with players accumulating points through various in-game activities, such as pairing cats, feeding them, and even referring friends to the game.

These points can then be converted into the game’s native token, vKitty, which players can potentially exchange for real-world USDT when the token is finally launched.

Beyond the gameplay and earning potential, Catizen places a strong emphasis on building a vibrant and engaged community. The platform encourages players to share heartwarming stories about rescuing stray cats.

Furthermore, Catizen has pledged to donate 1% of its in-game purchase revenue to nonprofit organizations, with the community voting on the beneficiaries.

Since its launch in January 2024, Catizen has experienced remarkable growth, amassing over 15 million total players and 3.5 million daily active users as of June 2024. The game has generated over $10 million in revenue demonstrating the strong appeal and engagement it has garnered from players.
