Mastercard and MoonPay have joined forces to explore the possibilities of Web3-based marketing and consumer engagement. On October 25, MoonPay officially announced a partnership to harness Web3 technologies for marketing and enhancing consumer engagement.
During a panel discussion at the Money20/20 conference in Las Vegas, MoonPay’s enterprise president, Keith Grossman, and Mastercard’s chief marketing and communications officer, Raja Rajamannar, unveiled the partnership.
“Mastercard will take advantage of MoonPay’s entire Web3 portfolio, including auth to minting to ETHPass and more as well as work closely with our agency, Otherlife, for strategy, creative, and front-end dev work for their experiential initiatives,” Grossman wrote in a post on LinkedIn.
In addition to creating new Web3 experiences, MoonPay will integrate Mastercard’s compliance and trust solutions into the Web3 industry.
MoonPay will incorporate some of Mastercard’s leading products and solutions, including its “Click to Pay” payment system, the Mastercard Send payment service, and the Mastercard Crypto Credentials solution.
“We’re so grateful for the partnership and even more excited about what’s ahead. Congrats to the full team,” Mastercard’s Web3 marketing Adam Polansky commented on Grossman’s post.
“We are excited about this partnership and what’s to come,” Mastercard’s partnership executive Elizabeth Taylor also wrote.
But as of the time of writing, Mastercard had not officially announced the news.
Mastercard has been increasingly showing interest in blockchain and crypto technology, introducing multiple products to its platform in recent years. In 2022, Mastercard introduced a program that enables banks to offer their customers access to crypto trading in partnership with Paxos.
However, earlier this year, the company launched the Mastercard Artist Accelerator, a platform for music education and Web3. This platform empowered musicians to use Web3 tools and resources, allowing them to create, collaborate, and monetize their work.
Additionally, Mastercard has collaborated with Coinbase and MoonPay to expand its presence in the Web3 and nonfungible token (NFT) space.
