Blockchain firm, NEAR Foundation, has launched an initiative with Alibaba Cloud to drive the development and adoption of Web3 in Asia. The partnership is targeted at encouraging collaboration among developers in Asia and to build on the Near Protocol utilizing Alibaba Cloud as a storage facility.
The NEAR Protocol is a decentralized application (dApp) platform and Ethereum competitor that focuses on developer and user-friendliness. NEAR Protocol is a Layer-1 blockchain which uses sharding to improve scalability and throughput. NEAR Protocol is also known for its high speed, low fees, and developer-friendly tools.
NEAR Protocol is built on a sharded architecture, which allows it to process more transactions per second than other blockchains. This makes it ideal for dApps that require high throughput, such as games and social media platforms. NEAR Protocol is managed by the NEAR Foundation, which is a not-for-profit organization.
Alibaba Cloud, also known as Aliyun, is a cloud computing platform that provides a wide range of services to businesses of all sizes. It offers Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions. Alibaba Cloud is one of the world’s leading cloud computing providers in the world, with a market share of over 6%.
The NEAR Foundation stated that the partnership with Alibaba Cloud will allow developers to access NEAR’s RPC service, multi-chain data indexing, and developer tools for easier dApp creation.
The collaboration aims to enable more creators to build exciting Web3 applications and onboard Web2 users to Web3 possibilities. “App developers building on the NEAR Blockchain Operating System (BOS) will now also enjoy Alibaba Cloud’s infrastructure,” NEAR Foundation said.
Speaking about the project, Raymond Xiao, Head of International Web3 Solutions at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, said that the partnership between NEAR Foundation and Alibaba Cloud is significant for developers and validators in Asian markets, as they can make use of Alibaba Cloud’s infrastructure.
With NEAR’s Node-as-a-Service initiative and BOS, the collaboration aims to support the Web3 community in creating exciting applications that will benefit a broad consumer audience.
