According to Serbian prosecutor Branko Stamenkovic, Serbian police have taken possession of the opulent residence in Belgrade where Do Kwon spent the last six months hiding out.

This action took place shortly after it was reported that Han Chang-Joon had purchased the luxury €2 million duplex in the Serbian capital while on the run. 

According to Stamenkovic, the police were dispatched to search the flat and its surroundings, and the residence was temporarily seized based on the recommendation of the court in the prosecution of the high-tech crime. 

Do Kwon has been accused of fraud in connection with the $60 billion Terra blockchain network collapse that occurred in May 2022, according to both the US and South Korea. Han’s involvement as the former CFO of Terraform Labs is another reason why South Korean authorities are requesting his extradition. The two South Korean nationals were the subject of an Interpol arrest order that was issued in September 2022.

The report came in at the same time that national network KBS claimed that Kwon had remitted $7 million to a South Korean law firm before the collapse of the TerraUSD and Luna coins in May 2022. 

Stamenkovic further disclosed that the prosecuting team has reasons to believe that the flat was purchased using funds obtained from the crimes that are alleged against him in Korea.

He asserted “The implementation of evidentiary actions is underway, which will show exactly how he bought the apartment. If I’m not mistaken, this is the most valuable temporary seizure in that case.” 

The Special Prosecution for High Tech Crime for the Republic of Serbia is headed by Branko Stamenkovic. The team has been working alongside South Korean prosecutors in the search for Do Kwon and Han Chang-Joon who have been suspected to be hiding in Serbia for a long.
